Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower

Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower

$25.00

Once the highest building in Brooklyn and a reference point to orient oneself for anyone living south of the Williamsburg neighborhood where the bank was initially founded, this stone skyscaper was completed just before the 1929 crash, and like its taller, more famous neighbor looming on 34th St just across the river, it would sit mostly vacant for years. The lobby is a six-story wonder. It’s now a condo building, and we love it all the same. The red background is inspired by the blazing fall sunsets not uncommon in these parts.
